The ACT Health Minister has apologised to a woman who was billed for a medical test performed on her baby son, who died after being exposed to tuberculosis in the Canberra Hospital.
Uhh, how the hell does TB get into a hospital or whatever they put up his nose?
Kylea Gill was charged for a nasal swab test on her son Douglas before he died, although ACT Health withdrew the bill yesterday.
Katy Gallagher says the families of people who die in hospital are not automatically exempt from bills.
But she says she will change the Health Department’s billing procedures so it can approach some cases more sensitively.
“It’s something that’s happened that shouldn’t have happened, we should have better checked it,” she said.
“Particularly in relation to this case, where I know the family has been put through quite a lot over the last couple of months, we should have been better for them and we need to respond to that.”
OH OKAY, so it’s all fine and dandy now. BUT A FUCKING BABY IS DEAD!
Bloody hell, seriously. I must say there’s a tonne of better health systems around, and Aus isn’t high on the list. CUBA for instance is better, their doctors and nurses and such have to do rigorous testing and their health system.. Well you probably wont have babies dying in there from TB.
